Aerobic Spinning Class

What is the deal?

The Carnegie Mellon University Rowing Club is offering an aerobic workout session that is flexible, intense, and open to students and faculty of the Carnegie Mellon University Community. The class features cardio training using ergometers, which are the rowing equivalent to stationary bikes. These exercise devices help rowers simulate water resistance and train both their strength and technique so they can perform their best on the water. Using the same tools, you can achieve a full body, low-impact workout and burn up to 1300 calories an hour! With knowledgeable leaders and intense music, it's easy to motivate yourself to get into great shape!

When do we offer this class?

The Carnegie Mellon University Rowing Club offers the spinning class on Monday - Thursday, with two class sessions per day:

  • 12:30pm - 1:30pm
  • 8:00pm - 9:00pm

Where is it located?

The CMURC has a dedicated facility to house the ergometer equipment in the lower level of Skibo Gym. To find the room, enter Skibo Gym by the main door with the attendant. Go to the right and making an immediate left will point you to the hallway that will take you directly to the rowing room. Signs will be posted for your convenience.

How much does it cost?

To be fair for everyone, the class cost is dependent on your university status. On a per class basis, the cost $5.00/class for students and $7.00/class for faculty and staff. However, if you find that you enjoy the workout and the time slot, you can sign up for a discounted 10-class session, which costs $40.00/10 classes for students and $60.00/10 classes for faculty and staff. However, we invite you to come try it out first. YOUR FIRST CLASS IS FREE!!! Come to one of the sessions, and make sure you bring your Carnegie Mellon student/staff ID card.
