Boathouse
Carnegie Mellon University Rowing Club was one of the founding members of the Three Rivers Rowing Association. Our boathouse is located on Washington's Landing (an Island on the Allegheny River) at 300 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 (Google maps). Note: The 31st Street bridge is closed until mid 2007. The 16th and 40th Street bridges are still open.
Take Morewood Ave. all the way until it intersects with Millvale Ave. Make a right onto Millvale and then a left onto Liberty Ave. Follow Liberty towards the downtown area. Make a right onto 40th Street (across from a BP gas station) and continue over the 40th Street bridge. Make a Left at the light after the bridge onto 28 South, and the next left onto the 31st Street bridge (note that this is just to make a short jog onto the island; it is the main span of the 31st Street bridge over the river which is closed). You will be forced to make an immediate right, then make an immediate left onto Waterfront Drive. Follow the road down the island. The boathouse will be on the left. Head down towards the water and you will see the bays where the boats are. CMU is in the second bay from the left as you are facing the boat house. The boathouse is approximately 3 miles from CMU (4 miles without the 31st Street bridge).
TRRA directions (good if you're coming from out of town).
There is a map of the route using the 31st Street bridge, which is currently closed.
Boats
The team has a fleet of boats consisting of Vespoli, Kaschper, and Wintech Shells. The team currently owns six fours, three eights, four pairs and a variety of singles. We were also the first club in Pittsburgh to add a wakeless coaches' launch to our equipment manifest.
Erg Room
Our erg room consists primarily of Model D Concept II ergs,
weight bars,
ab balls and lockers for use by team members. It has come
a long way in recent years, including enlarging the actual room, painting, cleaning, removing extraneous lockers, and most recently, hanging mirrors on the wall for better self-analysis of technique.
It is located on campus in Skibo Gym.
